Dollar (Dollar has been Adopted!)
Dollar is a grade Arabian x Saddlebred gelding who came to MHARF from a December 2017 Washington County humane case. He was foaled in approximately 2008 and stands approximately 14.3hh. Dollar had some issues with thin soles at intake and required front shoes. He has been doing very well with regular farrier care and is now sound, but he will most likely require shoes if he is going to be doing road or trail work. Dollar has been in a foster home since intake and in February 2020 we finally had a chance to get a training assessment on him (thank you to Kaitlyn Fedewa–see video link below). We now know he is broke to ride (Kaitlyn did walk/trot in the arena bareback and bitless, but did not push him to canter on this ride) but we are still considering him relatively green since he does need more refresher work. He is a high-energy horse and suitable for an advanced/experienced rider at this time. His foster person Holly says he has a great temperament and good ground manners.
