Sammy (Adopted)

Sammy is an Arabian/QH mare who came to us from a January 2023 St. Louis County humane case.  She was foaled in approximately 2001. Sammy stands 14.3hh. She had her veterinary work done at intake, including much-needed dental care which has now allowed her to eat properly and gain weight.  Sammy went to HH Stables in late April for a training assessment and some refresher training. They report that Sammy is a little nervous being away from the other horses, but she is still respectful and listens well. She stands nicely for saddling and mounting. She is neck-reined and stops well. She has obviously had a lot of riding in the past but was a little rusty. She has now had many rides in the arena, around the farm, and even out on trails with overnight camping. She can be excitable, but she is easily manageable and very trusting of her rider if they are calm and confident. Sammy does need protection from bug bites in the summer as she does have a high sensitivity to bites.
