2010 CHALLENGE of the UNWANTED HORSE

The Challenge | The Trainers and Students | Event Information

It wouldn't be much of a challenge if we didn't have any horses or trainers to show off, so this is where you will be able to meet the stars of this show. So, without further ado (and in no particular order), we would like to present the 2010 participants of Trainer's Challenge. By following the links in each description, you will be taken to a running "blog" of the pair's progress.

The Trainers and Students

(Note: "Updated" dates may not reflect the day of the actual update. If a trainer provides a date in their narrative, we'll use that so as to remain consistent with the training timeline.)

Rioja

Rioja - Trained by T.J. Clibborn
Updated:
Monday, June 28
Foaled around 2000, Rioja is a Mustang mare from the Three Strikes Ranch humane case in Nebraska who came in with the filly Buena. Standing about 14.3 hands, she's a bay roan, but not as extreme as the photo depicts. Once she started receiving proper food, her shedding process kicked in and pushed all the "bad hair" off. She's currently being halter trained (which is going quite well) and is slowly stepping up to some "sacking out" exercises. Read more!

To get in touch with T.J. Clibborn regarding Rioja, or to set up a time where you can meet them both, please feel free to contact T.J. via e-mail at tjbrumby@yahoo.com or at 608-868-5432.

Prancer

Prancer - Trained by Natalie Payne
Updated: Friday, July 21
Prancer - also known as "Phoebe" - is a beautiful black and white pinto Arabian mare that recently gave birth to a bouncing little colt named Manidu. We believe she was foaled in 2003 and she stands at a petite 14.1hands high. She isn't afraid of people at all and enjoys being groomed, but she is sometimes a little stand-offish. It appears she has just never really learned anything or had been handled much, but she is sensible and capable of learning. With the ground manner work we've been doing with her, she has turned into a trusting and friendly girl. She seems to be quite athletic and has beautiful, floaty gaits - especially at a trot. We could see her being a nice distance (endurance) or small dressage horse. Read more!

To get in touch with Natalie Payne regarding Prancer, or to set up a time where you can meet them both, please feel free to contact Natalie via email at natalie@fosterfarmmn.com or at 612-616-6687.
