Naalon

Nalon

“Vickie and Naalon have been riding around my farm for 8 years now every Monday just like clockwork. Over the years, I have learned their story and today I asked Vickie if I could share it with other people. Being the kind and cordial person that she is, she said I could. Naalon was rescued by MHARF more than 15 years ago from a stall that was several feet deep in manure. He had been in that stall so long that he had issues being able to move properly for some time after taken out of the stall. By the time Vickie found him at MHARF, he was 19 years old and still very afraid of people and usually bucked them off. Something clicked between the two of them, and Vicki adopted him and slowly got Naalon to not be afraid of her. She rode him with her legs out away from his sides as any bumping on his sides frightened him. After a couple of years of regular work with Naalon, he became more accepting of Vickie and they started the routine of riding out on a regular basis. I moved in next door after they were well into their routine and loved seeing them ride around the property on Mondays. It was obvious they fit together very well by then. Naalon is now 34 years old and he is still lovin’ his rides as you can see by this photo. These two are a shining example of how a person and a horse can overcome some terrible history together. Kudos to you Vickie and your boyfriend Naalon.” –Jean B.
