Tantrum (aka “Annie”)
Update 11/21/23: Tantrum is now back in training at HH Stables and is ready to find a new home!
Tantrum (also known as “Annie”) is a 2010 14hh Saddlebred pony cross mare who originally came to MHARF during a 2010 humane case. Annie successfully competed in the 2014 Trainers’ Challenge with trainer Francis Nelson. She was adopted after the event but returned in 2020 because her adopter could no longer keep her. She then went to trainer Sarah Lemke for an assessment and refresher training. You can see videos of Annie under saddle on Sarah’s Facebook page Step Up Horsemanship. She was then adopted again but returned recently after suffering an episode of laminitis due to having spent too much time on pasture. We have had her on a diet and dry lot for the summer and she has lost weight and is doing well. She is sound barefoot currently but may need shoes for future riding. Annie is suitable for an intermediate rider or a confident advanced beginner. She will need a home with someone who is knowledgeable about the needs of an “easy keeper” with a past diagnosis of laminitis. Annie can have plenty of riding days ahead of her as long as she is kept on a proper diet and has regular farrier care.
