Due to the number of young horses in our program, MHARF developed a new training competition called “Promise of the Future” in 2017. This competition, now in its second year, takes place during the annual MHARF Trainer’s Challenge of the Unwanted Horse which is to be held this year on Saturday, September 22nd, at the Leatherdale Equine Center on the University of Minnesota St. Paul campus.  The competition consists of a Halter/Condition class and in In-hand Obstacle/Trail class. The competition is limited to 5-8 entrants and the “students” will be horses currently in the MHARF program who are over the age of one year but under the age of four years (and who are not started under saddle). This is an in-hand only competition and no mounted work will be allowed during training or competition.  We will be awarding generous prize money, but the amount is yet to be determined. We will have more details on that when we have the information is available! We are again looking for possible event sponsors, both corporate and individual, so please Contact Us for more information on sponsorship opportunities!

We are no longer accepting POF Trainer Applications (deadline was May 1st, 2018).  If you have further questions, please feel free to Contact Us. Thank you! We are really pleased to make this competition an annual event!
