Belle is a beautiful 15.1hh 2004 bay off-the-track thoroughbred mare. She was retired from racing at the age of 4 and was schooled as a low-level jumper.  Unfortunately at one point she became cast in her stall and ended up with a broken jaw. Her previous owner gave her plenty of time to heal and did all necessary veterinary work. She was ridden afterwards but had developed some rearing issues so was taken out of training. Belle came into our program in July of 2017.  We had her dental work done and the vet found she was completely healed and would be able to go back into work with no problem. She now shows absolutely no pain issues or issues with eating.  In 2018 Belle went into training with Anna Hill and was restarted under saddle and did very well. She was also ridden with a bit and showed no signs of any discomfort and never reverted to her rearing issues. She was then adopted but came back into our program in 2020. She is recovering from some hindquarter issues at this point and is receiving chiropractic care. It is very likely that Belle will again be suitable for a lighter rider in the future–watch for updates on that. She would also be a wonderful liberty horse as she is very responsive and willing. This mare has the sweetest temperament and has excellent ground manners. She loves to be in the barn and she does best being blanketed during cold weather turn out. She could also be a great companion for anyone who needs a friend for another gentle, passive horse.
