This old mare (foaled in approximately 1996) was surrendered to MHARF in an October 2018 Pine County humane case. She had a ruptured pre-pubic tendon, a large hernia, and a severe rupture in her abdominal fascia. A full veterinary work-up and ultra sound was done at Anoka Equine Veterinary Services. After viewing and discussing results with the entire veterinary team, it was determined that surgical correction was not an option as the mare would not have survived the surgery. We made the sad decision to have her humanely euthanized. Thank you to the entire staff at Anoka Equine for their wonderful care of this old mare in her final days!
