“A great horse will change your life. The truly special ones define it.” – author unknown
“Eleven years with my heart horse. Eleven years where, at this point, it’s hard to find a person who knows me that doesn’t also know Lulu.
This little horse has been with me every step of the way through middle school, high school, undergrad, and now grad school. We’ve lived in four states, traveled to many more for shows and events, and have tackled every challenge together. From the USEF/Equus Foundation Hall of Fame, winning Nationals, and competing in front of 10,000 at the Midwest Horse Fair Star Search to visiting nursing homes, campus, and participating in clinics and day camps, Lulu has touched countless lives with her story of sheer determination and love for life. These days, she’s my constant in the current chaos of the world and we’ve been content to just laugh and play at liberty or go on hikes. Even in these quiet moments together, I’m constantly in awe of all that she’s become.
Her life has defined mine as much as I have hers, and I am so thankful that all those years ago she took a chance and decided to trust an eleven-year-old girl.
Happy gotcha day, Lulu.”–Aimee
