Rest in Peace, Jewell

Last weekend we received a note from Connie to let us know that her 30-year-old adopted mare, Jewell, had been put down peacefully at home. This beautiful mare first came to us in 2020 when we were called in by law enforcement to pick up an estray horse. Jewell’s owner was found but did not want to take her back, so she was signed over to MHARF. Connie initially only planned on fostering Jewell, but then decided that the old mare deserved to have a place where she was actually wanted in her final years, so the foster home became a permanent home. Thank you to Connie for giving Jewell comfort and security in her old age and thank you to Dr. Jenny for helping her leave this world in a humane and peaceful way.
