Sweet Pea (Adopted)

Sweet Pea is a quarter horse/Arabian mare who was foaled in approximately 2003. She came to us from a January 2023 St. Louis County humane case.  Sweet Pea stands 14.1hh. She had all of her veterinary work done at intake, including dental care. She had several very sharp, overgrown teeth which had caused bad ulceration in her mouth. After her dental care she was able to eat much more comfortably and gained weight quickly. Sweet Pea went to HH Stables in late April for a training assessment and some refresher training. She is broke to ride but was a bit rusty at first as it has been a while since she has been ridden. She is now going nicely walk/trot in the arena and she has also gotten some good overnight camping experience with state park trail riding. Her trainers at HH Stable say she has the sweetest personality and is very respectful. She has great ground manners and is good under saddle but looks to her rider for confidence so not suited to a very beginner rider. Sweet Pea does have a mild case of clubfoot in one of her fronts which is common in her breed. She shows signs of having had a bout of laminitis in the past (most likely due to going without farrier care/trimming for a long period). She is now sound and has no problem with either issue with consistent regular trimming.
