Tough

Tough is a yearling pony colt (foaled in July 2024) who was signed over to MHARF in late March 2025 after he had been attacked by livestock guardian dogs.  He is currently at Anoka Equine Veterinary Services receiving intake vet care, including IV antibiotics. He is stiff, sore and very bruised. His wounds have been cleaned and sutured where possible. Some wounds have been left open as dog bites are dirty wounds and can get infected easily. The majority of his tail was pulled out by the roots by the dogs, so we cut the remaining part short to help keep it from getting stuck in the wounds. Tough was released from the clinic in May and has spent the spring and early summer recovering. He has healed up well and is ready to find a new home.
