Reddy

Update 09/11/23: We are happy to report that Reddy is still doing well and is comfortable and well taken care of in his foster home!

Update on Reddy 04/30/23: Reddy has been diagnosed with Shivers. He will be staying at his wonderful foster home in hospice until it is time to make the decision to put him down. Until that time, Reddy will be receiving all of the love and care he needs to manage his symptoms and make his quality of life the best possible. Thank you to Janette and Craig!

Reddy is a nice 15.2hh sorrel quarter horse gelding (foaled in approximately 2005) who originally came to MHARF because his elderly owner could no longer care for him.  Reddy is a nice horse with great ground manners. He is broke to ride and does have trail experience. Reddy spent spring of 2020 in refresher training with Marirose Berner of MJB Horse Training.  He did very well but we did discover that he has a mild case of stringhalt and also has navicular disease.

Celeste

Celeste at Intake

Celeste at Intake

Celeste is a 1997 gray Arabian mare who stands 14.3hh. She has a fantastic temperament and is very friendly. She was extremely thin at intake in January 2015. She has now gained quite a bit of weight back and is enjoying the grass at her foster home! We have determined that Celeste is not broke to ride, and due to some weakness in her hindquarters and her age we probably wouldn’t recommend she go through any under saddle training. We are looking for a home as a companion for this very sweet old mare!

Bonfyre

Bonfyre is a chestnut Arabian mare who was foaled at MHARF in 2008 after her mother, Wildfyre, came in pregnant during a humane case. As a youngster, Bonfyre had an unfortunate accident that broke her olecranon (point of the elbow). She’s was placed in the capable care of the veterinarians at the U of M who fitted her with a plate. Because of the plate, Bonfyre will be unable to participate in high-impact sports like jumping and cross-country, but she could be a great riding horse. As you can see she has grown into a beautiful mare!
