Coal (adopted)

Coal is a black gelding who was born in spring of 2023. He came to us as a stud colt from a September 2023 Carlton County humane case. Coal was rejected by his mother, Fancy, during the move, but he was quickly adopted by Etta (who nursed both Coal and her filly, Carly). He was weaned and and gelded when ready. Unfortunately, in early April 2024 Coal suffered an injury from a kick by another horse while at a foster home. He sustained a fractured mandibular incisor plate which was treated by Anoka Equine. The teeth he lost were all lower baby teeth and as of now his adult lower left incisors have not come in. It is likely he will always be missing these lower left incisors. However, he has no problem eating regular food and does not have any other issues with his mouth. Coal currently stands approximately 14.3hh. He has had a lot of handling and has good ground manners. He just turned two, so is not yet started under saddle. Coal was adopted but has no come back to us because he wasn’t the best fir for his older pasture mates. Like most young horses, he likes to play and roughhouse with his herdmates, so a home with suitable companions and space and activity to keep him busy is a must.
