Lakota Bay (update: Lakota Bay has been adopted!)

Lakota Bay is a 1998 mustang gelding who MHARF originally donated to the equine program at the St. Cloud Children’s home several years ago. The Children’s Home has discontinued the program and Lakota has been returned. He’s a nice, calm horse with good ground manners as long as he is reminded of his boundaries. He has been having some refresher work this summer and would be good for an intermediate rider.  Lakota stands approximately 14.2hh.

Dixie (Update 01/18/18 Dixie has been adopted!)

Dixie is very sweet pinto mare came to MHARF from a Sept. 2016 Stearns County humane case. She was foaled around 1998. She had been locked in a closed up barn with the stallion from the same case (Waylon, who is now a gelding) and was pregnant at intake. She gave birth to a large, healthy bay overo colt, Turtle, on 11/05/16. She did need assistance during foaling so luckily she was in a safe place at the MHARF farm at the time!

Waylon (Companion Home Only)

Waylon is paint gelding who came in during Sept. 2016 Stearns County humane case. He was foaled in approximately 1998. He was a stallion at intake and had spent several years locked in a filthy closed up barn with no turnout at all.  Because of these conditions and lack of hoof care, Waylon showed signs of laminitis at intake. He is currently being treated for this with regular farrier care and front shoes and is sound.

Twizzler (formerly Ian)

twizzler-ianThe lovely horse standing with such pride in this picture is Twizzler (Ian). He rocked his costume and he and his little girl won Most Elaborate in the costume class. They also won first place in their dressage class. Not too shabby!  I think he thought he looked nice in his flower garden costume! -Sarah R.

Willa (Update: Willa has been adopted! )

Willa is a beautiful chestnut mare who was foaled around 2002 and stands approximately 15.2hh. We believe her dam is Korea Norsk, a registered National Showhorse, but we don’t know who her sire was. Willa and Korea Norsk came in together during a July 2016 Crow Wing County humane case in which they were rescued from flood waters. Willa spent the spring and summer of 2017 in training with trainer Beth Ash for our 2017 Trainer’s Challenge of the Unwanted Horse
