“She is the best companion I could have asked for!”

Hi MHARF,

I just wanted to share some updates on Lilo (formerly Lucy) whom I adopted last August! Lilo is doing great at our barn and recently celebrated her first birthday! She has been turned out during the day with a small herd of mares and is an absolute riot. Being an orphan, she is a bit naïve to horse culture, so she doesn’t always understand the other horse’s body language, but they have all figured out that she is an odd one and let her have her way. I have been doing a lot of ground work with her and have her lunging a bit too. She loves to run around with me and play, and even does well in some liberty work! Whenever I beckon to her or approach her gate, she runs up and wants to follow me out. Sometimes I walk in and get to sit next to her too as she naps in the sun. I have received great complements on her behavior from the chiropractor who adjusted her last December who also called her my dog (which I think is true, she is a big dog) and the farrier complemented her behavior and said that she has great leg and hoof structure. Other boarders always joke that they want to steal her because she is so sweet, and I agree, she is such a sweetheart. She loves hugs and gives kisses to me all the time. Although it is a lot of work raising a young horse, I am so glad that I jumped on the opportunity to adopt Lilo. She is the best companion that I could have asked for and our temperaments match perfectly. I cannot wait to see what she grows up to be like as we grow together! Thank you for pairing me with such a great filly!

“I ‘m so happy to have them here!”

Thank you to Vicki for this update on Perlita and Penny Mae (formerly Apple Brown Betty and May)! ” Here a couple of pics of the donkeys.  They are doing well and learning to go in and out of their stall (as long as I line the cement floor with straw!).  They both are such sweet and gentle girls.  I’m so happy to have them here.

Ming the Mustang

“Here’s a picture of my beautiful girl, Ming. After a run around the arena, she stopped to catch her breath. She has turned into a strong, smart mare. She’s the lead mare in a herd of 13. We call her the “sidewalk supervisor” since she keeps track of everyone coming in and out of the pasture. Chatting with them as they come and go. Such a chatty girl… I love her to death. Thanks for all you did for her!” –Allyn

“Everything Happens for a Reason…”

“I just wanted to send you a quick update on Raine (Formerly known as Amber). Raine is doing awesome and has settled in really well with the herd. We have been having so much fun together and have been working on all different types of riding! Lately we have been working on ground poles and small jumps, and we even got a few trail rides in during the fall before the weather changed to freezing. I love how open Raine is to trying new things. She is such a sweet and loving mare. We really have such a special connection, and I am so lucky that everything worked out the way it did so that I was able to adopt her. I know everything happens for a reason.

Also, Raine got her own custom dressage saddle that should be arriving around the end of February. I was having trouble finding a saddle that fit her correctly since she has high withers and is short backed, so I decided this was the best option to keep her happy. She definitely deserves the best! Thank you again for allowing me to adopt her and letting me make her apart of my family. I’m so blessed to have her and wouldn’t change anything for the world!

I attached a few images below.. I dressed her up for Christmas with my other mare.
Thanks,
Macy”
