LaDoux (Adopted)

Update July 2022: LaDoux has been adopted!

Meet LaDoux. This nice grade quarter horse gelding is a recent intake at MHARF. He’s an older boy, having been foaled in approximately 2001. He stands just under 15.2hh. He came to us as an owner surrender but we don’t have a lot of info on his history. He spent 30 days with trainer Sarah Helms of Step Up Horsemanship for a training assessment (see video below). He is neck-reined and will w/t/c in the arena. He is a little anxious at first but settles down quickly. As of March 2022 he is in training with Marirose Berner of MJB Horse Training for refresher work. She reports that he loves being out on the trail!

Addi (Addi has been adopted!)

Addi has been adopted!

Addi is a 15.1hh paint mare who was foaled in 2002. She came to MHARF recently because her owner could no longer keep her. She is currently with Anna Hill/Longstocking Stables for a training assessment. This is what her trainer has to say so far: “Loads, leads, ties. Great feet. Sweet as can be on the ground. PERFECT under saddle. Great confidence builder on the trails or in the arena.”  Addi was recently diagnosed with arthritis and had both stifles injected. She will still be an excellent light to medium trail horse but will require maintenance care for her arthritis.

Jaxson (Jaxson has been Adopted!)

Jaxson has been ADOPTED!

Jaxson is a 15.1hh gelding (foaled in approximately 2007) who came to MHARF recently because his owner could no longer keep him. It’s been a few years since he was ridden so he is with Sarah Helms at Step Up Horsemanship for an assessment and refresher training. This is video of Sarah’s first ride in the large indoor. Jaxson is available for adoption through MHARF while he continues his training. We don’t have any info yet on how he is on the trails and we would not consider him appropriate for beginner riders.

Here is what Sarah says about his first assessment ride:
“I rode Jackson the first day in the round pen since I didn’t know much about him so day 2 I brought him into the arena with out lunging him and just hopped on him to see what he knows. He is pretty quiet and easy going, neck reins, has a good stop, w/t/l never offered to buck. He does need some work on standing still. He does have a big stride that’s a little on the fast side but he never felt out of control. He could use a little bit of a tune up but is a really nice big gelding.” Jaxson’s Assessment Ride Video

Hoss (Hoss has been Adopted!)

Hoss has been ADOPTED!

Hoss is a miniature gelding who was foaled in approximately 2005. He was adopted from MHARF as a 4- year- old but has been returned because his adopter could no longer keep him.  Like all minis, Hoss should be kept mostly on a dry lot and off of lush pasture. Hoss will need diligent regular farrier care to keep his hooves in shape.

Bailey (Bailey has been adopted!)

Bailey has been adopted!

Bailey is a POA mare (Pony of the Americas) who was foaled in approximately 2005. She was adopted from MHARF as a young horse and has now been returned because her adopter can no longer keep her. Bailey is not broke to ride. She is also blind in one eye. As of October 2021 she is in training with Anna Hill of Longstocking Stables. Watch for updates!
