Rake

Rake is a 15.1hh pinto gelding (unknown breeding) who was foaled in approximately 2010. He originally came to MHARF in 2014 from a humane case. He was a stud at intake and very thin (Body score of 1.5/2 on Henneke Scale). Rake was adopted but has now been returned to MHARF because his adopter could sadly no longer keep him. He is broke to ride and is currently with trainer Sarah Helms of Step Up Horsemanship for assessment and refresher training. Rake is suitable at this time for an intermediate rider and up. He is a pretty “easy keeper” and should be kept off of lush pasture in the spring and summer.

Thor (Adopted)

Thor is a 16.1hh paint gelding who was foaled in approximately 2004. He originally came to MHARF in 2011 from a humane case. Thor has been adopted and returned to MHARF 3 times over the past 10 years but only because in each instance his adopter could no longer keep him. He’s a nice gelding who is well broke to ride and suitable for a confident intermediate rider and up. He is currently with trainer Sarah Helms of Step Up Horsemanship for assessment and refresher training. Watch for updates!

Eclipse (Adopted)

Eclipse was born at MHARF in March 2015 (during an eclipse) after her mother Triska came in from a humane case in late 2014. She was adopted as a yearling and started under saddle in 2018. Eclipse was then returned because her adopter could sadly no longer keep her. She then went back into training and was adopted again. She was unfortunately returned a second time because she proved to be a little too much horse for her young rider. Eclipse has had trail experience and some jumping experience.  We don’t know much about her breeding but she is shorter, stocky mare, standing 14hh. She most likely has some paint, quarter horse, and pony in her. Eclipse is currently in training with Wendy Decamp. She is not suitable for a beginner. We would recommend her for a confident intermediate rider and up as she will sometimes try to test a more timid rider. It is also very important for Eclipse to have a properly fitting saddle (as it is for all horses).

Zabar

Zabar has been ADOPTED!

This nice palomino mare named Zabar came to us as an owner surrender but we don’t have a lot of info on her history. She was foaled in approximately 2011 and stands 14.3hh. She is currently with trainer Sarah Helms of Step Up Horsemanship for a training assessment and refresher. So far we know she is calm and will w/t/c in the arena but is a bit rusty on her cues, including steering. She was experiencing some tenderness on her front feet due to thin soles and is currently in front shoes. She is riding sound with the front shoes and doing very well. She may require front shoes or boots for any trail riding in the future. As with all horses, proper and regular farrier care will be a must for Zabar.

Melody (Melody has been Adopted!)

Melody has been ADOPTED!

Melody is a paint mare and is a recent intake at MHARF. She was foaled in approximately 2011 and stands 15hh. She came to us as an owner surrender but we don’t have a lot of info on her history. She is currently with trainer Sarah Helms of Step Up Horsemanship for a training assessment and refresher. She is broke to ride but we would say she is suitable for an confident intermediate to experienced rider at this time. We want to give Sarah more time to work with her and we will keep updating her info as we learn more about her.
