Zarah: Graduate of 2018 Trainer’s Challenge (Zarah has been adopted!)

Zarah is a standard molly mule who was born in 2013 and stands approximately 14hh. She was not broke to ride at intake so she was placed in our 2018 Trainer’s Challenge of the Unwanted Horse with trainer Sarah Lemke. She spent the spring and summer in training and competed in the Challenge on September 22nd, 2018, where she and Sarah took home the Grand Championship! You can follow Sarah and Zarah’s training journey during the summer of 2018 on Zarah’s official Facebook page Here!

Lady Flash (Lady Flash has been Adopted!)

Lady Flash is a Belgian mare who was foaled in approximately 2004 and stands approximately 17hh. She originally came to MHARF several years ago and was adopted but is now being returned because her adopter is moving out of state and cannot take her along. She is a nice mare who is broke to ride (for a confident, experienced rider) but has done mostly arena work and does not have much trail experience at this time. We have not been able to do our own training assessment on her yet, but she is on the list. She is currently still at her former boarding facility while she waits for a space to open up with one of our trainers, so visits at this time will be limited to anyone with an approved application on file first (and at the discretion of barn owner depending on how the covid-19 issue progresses).

Bravada (ADOPTED!)

Bravada is a Saddlebred mare who came to MHARF in December 2017. She was pregnant at intake and gave birth to a healthy chestnut colt on 05/23/18 who we named Figaro. Figaro has now been weaned and Bravada is available to go to a new home. She is a nice mannered mare and we believe she had been stared under saddle before–but we have not had a training assessment done yet.

May (May has been adopted!)

May is a 2005 standard donkey jennet who came to MHARF during a June 2017 Pine County humane case. This case involved 6 other donkeys, all of whom had not had any veterinary or farrier care for many years.  Because of this neglect, several had hooves so long they could barely walk. May was not one of those in the worst condition but she did have very long and misshapen hooves and has required specialized farrier care. They were also all suffering from severe internal and external parasite infestations. May has come a long way since intake and is ready to find a new adoptive home with someone who preferably has experience with donkeys. She is extremely bonded to her friend Apple Brown Betty who came in during the same case and they do need to be adopted together.
