Twizzler (Update: Twizzler has been adopted!)

Twizzler is a 14.2hh 2005 pinto gelding who originally came to MHARF several years ago in a humane case. He was adopted out but is now looking for a new home because his current rider has grown and needs a taller horse. Twizzler (formerly known as Ian) is a very nice horse and would be suitable for a confident advanced beginner on up. He has some dressage experience and has done well. He has also done some jumping but does not seem to enjoy it. He is probably happiest on trails. He does get a little “looky” when he encounters things he isn’t familiar with–so he needs a rider who will stay calm.  We aren’t certain of his breeding but our best guess is that he has some Standardbred and also some Arabian.

Cactus Jack (Adopted!)

Cactus Jack is a beautiful  bay gelding who was born on 06/16/17. His mother, Cactus Katie, is a pinto mare who came to MHARF during a May 2017 Isanti County humane case.  In 2018 Jack was diagnosed with a bone cyst and required arthroscopic surgery. By 2019 he had made a full recovery and has gotten the “all clear” from the vet to continue in his training. We aren’t certain of Jack’s breeding but he most likely has paint, Arabian, and possibly a little bit of welsh pony. He is not yet started under saddle.

Lucy (update: Lucy has been adopted!)

This beautiful filly was foaled in April of 2017 and was just a week old when she was transferred to MHARF from Last Chance Corral in Ohio. She had to be bottle fed for several weeks and is now learning to eat on her own. Stay tuned for updates on Lucy! (photo credit: Sydney Jordan)

Arlen (Arlen has been Adopted!)

Arlen, who was foaled in April 2017,  came to MHARF as a week-old foal from Last Chance Corral in Ohio. Because he was only a week old at intake, he needed to be bottle fed for several months.  Arlen has had a lot of handling and is kind and respectful. He is now gelded and is a sweet young horse with a great temperament.

Laylee (Laylee has been Adopted!)

Laylee has been Adopted!

Laylee is a very sweet bay mare who came to MHARF through law enforcement in a May 2017 humane case.  She was very thin at intake but has flourished in our rehabilitation program. She was foaled in approximately 2015 and is approximately 14hh. We don’t have a lot of information about Laylee’s breeding but we think it is a mix of Arabian, paint, and welsh pony.

During the summer of 2018 she was in training for our 2018 Promise of the Future Training Competition with trainer Melissa Stuckey of North Country Haven (please note: the POF competition is for horses age 3 and under. It is in in-hand only competition). She and Melissa competed successfully at the event in September and took home 6th Overall High Point.

Laylee  was then placed with trainer Anna Hill for our for the 2020 Trainer’s Challenge. She spent the spring and summer in training with Anna and they competed successfully, taking 6th Overall Highpoint in the Challenge in September. She was adopted after the event but has come back to MHARF because it wasn’t quite the right match for horse and rider. This pretty mare is once again hoping to find a new home! She is currently back in training with Anna Hill.  Laylee is suitable for a confident advanced beginner to intermediate rider. She has a lot of great training but she is also young and energetic.
