Jelly (Jelly has been Adopted!)

Jelly is a 2013 15.2hh registered Saddlebred mare (reg. name “Jus Sayin”) who spent the spring and summer of 2017 in training with trainer Lauren Novak for our 2017 Trainer’s Challenge of the Unwanted Horse. The competition was on Sept. 16th and Jelly and Lauren took Sixth Overall High Point! Jelly was graciously donated to MHARF when we had to pull another horse from the Challenge competition due to lameness and needed a replacement horse. This beautiful mare is now available for adoption!

Nova (Nova has been Adopted!)

Nova is a grade gaited mare who came to MHARF from a 2015 Hubbard County humane case. She is black rabicano (limited white roaning) and very pretty. She stands 14.3hh and was foaled around 2004.  Nova is broke to ride and her foster home/trainer has been working with her a lot. She is a sweet mare who tries very hard to please. Nova does have arthritis in her front hocks and currently has front shoes w/pads and her trainer reports she seems very comfortable now. Nova is looking for a home where she will be ridden lightly (perfect for light trail or just tooling around the farm) or be a companion horse. She does need to be ridden in a bosal or some other type of bitless bridle. She has obviously been ridden in the past by someone with very rough hands. She has scarring on her lips and her poll and is reactive to touch on her mouth and face. We have determined this is not an ongoing pain issue but a response to previous poor handling.  Nova loads well and has really good ground manners.  Her trainer has been diligently working with her on picking up her feet and she is doing great with that as well. It does appear that she was a victim of past soring. Nova has her own Facebook page and you can view it HERE!

Cactus Katie (Adopted)

Cactus Katie is a bay pinto mare who was foaled around 2007 and stands approximately 14.2hh. She came in in May of 2017 from an Isanti County humane case. Katie was in foal at intake and she gave birth to a healthy colt (on 06/16/17) who we named Cactus Jack. Jack has now been weaned and Katie is ready to find a new home. She was not broke to ride so was placed with trainers Savannah Deutsch and Gina Fiorentino in for our 2019 Trainer’s Challenge. She spent the spring and summer in training and competed successfully in the Challenge on Sept. 7th. Katie was not adopted after the Challenge and she continued her training with Anna Hill. Katie was adopted in December of 2019 but has now been returned (March 2024) because her adopter could sadly no longer keep her. As of April 1st, 2024, Katie has gone to HH Stables for a training assessment/refresher. Maria says Katie is an energetic mare who loves trail riding. She especially loves trotting and would make an excellent distance riding prospect for a confident advanced beginner rider and up.

Cooper (Cooper has been ADOPTED!)

Cooper has been ADOPTED!

Cooper came to MHARF in April 2017 as a two-week old foal from Last Chance Corral in Ohio. He needed to be bottle fed for several weeks but was handled a lot and has turned into a friendly and respectful young horse. He had a severe umbilical hernia which was repaired and he was gelded. We don’t have any info on Cooper’s breeding but he is gaited. Cooper has now been placed with trainer Abbie Schramm for our 2020 Trainer’s Challenge. He will spend the spring and summer in training with Abbie and compete in the event in September. To find out how you can apply to adopt Cooper at the event please visit our Adopting a Trainer’s Challenge Horse page.
