August

August is a thoroughbred gelding (foaled in 2020, currently standing 15.2hh) who came to MHARF in an August 2024 humane case. (He was a stud at intake time and was gelded in November, 2024.) When he first came in, August spent time in-patient at Anoka Equine Veterinary Services receiving treatment and intake care. After he was released, he came to the MHARF farm for rehab and to continue his re-feeding program. August gained weight and recovered nicely over the winter.

Sunny (Adopted)

(Sunny is an appaloosa gelding (foaled in 2012) who came to MHARF in mid-July 2024 because his owner could no longer keep him. We have placed Sunny back in the “rehab” category at this time. He does not have any health or soundness issues, but he is not yet ready to be adopted. Sunny is friendly and likes people and attention when in his stall or in the paddock, but he does continue to get very nervous and reactive as soon as he is put to work.

Being overweight is detrimental to their health as it can lead to metabolic issues,
