Luta (Student of the 2019 MHARF Trainer’s Challenge)

Luta has been ADOPTED!

Luta came to MHARF from a March 2019 Fillmore County humane case. We have placed her with trainer Shaylor Alley for our 2019 Trainer’s Challenge.  Luta still needs to gain some weight and we want to thank Shaylor for  taking her as his Challenge horse even though she still requires rehabilitation time. Shaylor will work with Luta and give her the nutrition and rehab care she needs while also starting her training on the ground. When she is ready he will start her under saddle so she can compete in the Challenge on Sept. 7th and find a new home. You can follow Luta’s and Shaylor’s journey on their Facebook Page .

Fannie Mae (Adopted)

Fannie Mae has been ADOPTED!

Fannie Mae is a sweet sabino Tennessee Walking Horse mare who stands 14.2hh and was foaled in 2000. She was adopted but her previous adoptive family is hoping she can find a new home because life changes mean they can no longer spend the time with Fannie she deserves. She is broke to ride and is suitable for lighter trail riding.  Fannie did have a history of laminitis in both front feet when she originally came in. However, proper farrier care and diet have kept her sound since that time. Due to her history of laminitis, she should not be out on lush grass pasture.

This is the info we received from her previous adopters:
“Pros: Catchable,  Stands still for mounting,  Easy keeper.   Blankets fine.  Loads and unloads great.  Quiet in the trailer.  Ties perfectly.  Great for farrier and vet.  Bomb proof on the trail. Big walk.
A sweet girl.  More relaxed on trail than on the property.  Maybe a bit herd bound. Goes over bridges.
She is an outdoors horse year round with access to shelters.
She forges due to such big strides so boots to protect her heels in front and square toe trimming of rear feet is helpful.
Cons:  She has a growth on her tongue that is scar tissue. Does not affect the bit, or eating and only found it on a teeth float.  We use a myler barrel snaffle bit with little shanks.
Even though a TWH,  she doesn’t gait readily and we haven’t gaited much at all.”

Hank and Henry (Update Hank and Henry have been Adopted!)

Update 12/29/18: Hank and Henry have been ADOPTED and are no longer available.

Hank and Henry are two mini donkeys who came to MHARF because their owner was ill and could no longer keep them.  They are both yearlings and are now gelded. We would like to place them in a home together.

Galileo (Galileo has been ADOPTED!)

Galileo is an adorable mini gelding who was foaled in 2005 and stands 36″ tall. He has experience giving pony rides while being led but we need to do a training assessment before we know if he can be ridden independently or if he needs more training to do so. He has had good handling in the past and has great ground manners and he leads very well. He is a little wary of dogs and will spook a little bit if one runs up to him–but he is getting much better with more exposure to them. Galileo is a tad bit overweight right now and will benefit from a limited diet of grass hay. Like all ponies and minis, he should have a home where he will mostly be on dry lot during the warmer months so he doesn’t gain to much weight and/or founder on too much rich pasture.

Knight (Knight has been Adopted!)

Knight is a 12.1hh bay roan welsh pony gelding who originally came to MHARF many years ago in a humane case. He was adopted but has now come back to us because the kids have grown up and they want him to find a new child to call his own! He is approximately 18 years old. He is not for a real beginner or very young child because he does need a rider who will be able to let him know they are in charge. Knight is missing one eye but it doesn’t really affect him.
