Cherries (Student of the 2019 Trainer’s Challenge)

Cherries has been ADOPTED!

Cherries is a nice bay mare who came to MHARF from a May 2017 humane case. She was foaled in approximately 2015 and stands around 13.2hh and is still growing. She is half sister to Laylee who came from the same case. We don’t have a lot of information about Cherries’ breeding but believe she is an Arab/paint/pony cross. She spent the summer with trainer Brenda Boyd for our 2018 Promise of the Future Training Competition. (Please note: the POF competition is for horses 3 and under who are too young to start under saddle. It is an in-hand competition only.) Brenda and Cherries competed successfully and brought home the Grand Championship! Cherries has now been placed with trainer Sarah Lemke for our 2019 Trainer’s Challenge. She will spend the spring and summer in training and will compete under saddle in the Challenge on Sept. 7th. For more information on how to adopt Cherries or any of the other horses at the Trainer’s Challenge, please visit our Adopting a Trainer’s Challenge Horse page!

Brando (Brando has been adopted!)

Brando is a bay grade Arabian gelding who cam to MHARF from a December 2017 case. He was foaled in approximately 2011 and is approximately 15hh. He is not broke to ride and he has been placed in our 2018 Trainer’s Challenge of the Unwanted Horse with trainer Jessica Amundson. Because Brando will be spending the spring and summer in training and will then compete in the Challenge on 09/22/18, he will not be available for adoption until that day. For more information on becoming preapproved to adopt Brando at the Challenge, please see Adopting a Trainer’s Challenge Horse. You can follow Brando and Jessica’s Trainer’s Challenge journey on Brando’s official Facebook page HERE!

Blitzen (Update: Blitzen has been Adopted!)

Blitzen is a chestnut colt who was likely foaled in early 2017. He came to MHARF during a December 2017 humane case. He was extremely thin, dehydrated, and had a very bad infestation of both internal and external parasites. Blitzen remains in our rehabilitation program and as you can see form the photos, he is doing very well! We will have updates on him soon.

Sugarfoot (Student of the 2019 Trainer’s Challenge)

Sugarfoot has been ADOPTED!

Sugarfoot is a bay grade Arabian mare who came from a recent humane case in December of 2017. She is 14.1 hh and was foaled in 2011. She was pregnant at intake and gave birth to a large healthy filly on May 2nd, 2018. The filly has been named Maridae and she is a healthy, lively girl. Maridae has now been weaned and Sugarfoot is ready for a new home. She is not yet broke to ride so she has been placed with trainers Kaitlyn Fedewa and Anna Hill for our 2019 Trainer’s Challenge. She’ll spend the spring and summer in training and will compete in the Challenge on Sept. 7th. For more information on how to adopt Sugarfoot or any of the other horses at the Trainer’s Challenge, please visit our Adopting a Trainer’s Challenge Horse page!

Foxy

Foxy has been adopted!

Foxy is a nice bay grade Arabian mare who came in during a December 2017 humane case. She stands 14.2hh and was foaled in approximately 2010. She was pregnant at intake and gave birth to a healthy bay filly (Faline) on May 5th, 2018. Foxy was not broke to ride at intake so she was placed with trainers Kaitlyn Fedewa (mentored by Anna Hill) for our 2019 Trainer’s Challenge.  She spent the spring and summer in training but showed continuing signs of just not being ready to have someone climb on her back. Since we didn’t know much about what Foxy experienced before coming into the rescue, her trainers opted to take everything very slow with her.  She was able to compete in the Challenge in-hand classes and she did well. Foxy has been in foster care with the Fedewa family since the 2019 Trainer’s Challenge. In 2020 trainer Jeremy Kaiserlik and his intern Emily stepped in to give her a start under saddle. She has now resumed her under saddle work with trainer Sarah Lemke. You can follow all of Foxy’s training and see several more videos of her under saddle on her Facebook Page. Foxy is available for adoption and is suitable for a confident intermediate rider and up.

UPDATE 08/16/21: Over the weekend Foxy and Sarah competed in their first 15 mile endurance/competitive trail ride, taking first place out of 11 competitiors!
