Lester (Lester has been Adopted!)

Lester is a very nice 2009 bay pony mule gelding who stands 12.2hh. He is not broke to ride but he has good ground manners. Lester originally came in during the 2011 “Fillmore 55” humane case. He had major trust issues at intake but thank you to trainer Deb Anderson he is now very friendly and well-behaved!

Raven (Raven has been Adopted!)

UPDATE: 03/31/19: Raven has been ADOPTED!

Raven is a 15.3hh black mare who was foaled in 2002. She is 1/2 Oldenburg, 1/4 Trakehner, and 1/4 Arabian. Raven came to us several years ago in a humane case.  She went into training at that time but she developed some rearing issues under saddle that we now feel were probably due to being rushed in her training. We did then adopt her out as a companion horse but her companion sadly had to be put down recently so she was returned to us. Raven is a very nice mare with a sweet temperament. We felt that we wanted to give her another chance with a trainer who would be slow and patient with her. We sent her to Marirose Berner of MJB Horse Training and she is now going under saddle once again and doing very well! You can follow Raven’s training with Marirose on Raven’s Facebook Page.  Raven is suitable at this time for an advanced rider .

Captain (Captain has been Adopted!)

Captain is a pony cross (most likely with some draft) who was recently returned to MHARF because his original adopter could not keep him. He is in his late teens and stands 13.2hh. He is broke to ride but it has been many years so he will need to have an assessment before we know what level rider he is suitable for.

Swamp Cat (Adopted)

Swamp Cat is a quarter pony gelding who stands approximately 13.2hh and was foaled in approximately 2000. He has been acting as a companion for another horse but has recently returned to MHARF because his adopter could no longer keep him. Cat is a super sweet and uncomplicated boy and would make a great companion for just about any horse. He is broke to ride but he does have arthritis so is best suited as a companion only.

Kjor Sivert (update: Sivert has been adopted!)

Kjor Sivert is a 2003 Norwegian Fjord gelding who stands 14hh. He competed in our 2012 Trainer’s Challenge with Beth Ash, was adopted, but is now coming back to us because his adopter is moving and can’t take him along. Sivert is very well broke to ride and has extensive trail experience. he is suitable for an advanced beginner but he hasn’t been ridden in awhile so should have a a few rides from a more advanced rider as a refresher first. He is a very easy keeper and absolutely needs to be kept on a dry lot or needs to use his grazing muzzle if turned out on pasture.  He has had one minor bout of laminitis in the past (although he has recovered fully and radiographs show no sign of rotation) and will be prone to another if he is allowed unrestricted access to pasture. Sivert is a super nice horse and needs a home where he will get a lot of attention and regular exercise to keep him fit!
