Figaro (Figaro has been ADOPTED!)

Figaro is a chestnut American Saddlebred x Arabian cross gelding who was foaled on 05/23/18. His mother, Bravada, came in pregnant during a December 2017 case. Figaro is a beautiful, energetic, and athletic young gelding who would love to find a new home! Figaro was been placed with trainer Abbie Schramm in our 2020 Promise of the Future In-Hand training competition for young horses. He will spent the spring and summer in training with Abbie learning all of the things a young horse needs to be a good citizen on the ground. He competed in the event in September and took Third Overall Highpoint. (You can follow Figaro’s progress throughout his summer of training on his Facebook Page!) Figaro was adopted at the competition but has come back to MHARF because his adopter could no longer keep him. Figaro has tons of potential for a knowledgeable person looking for a smart, sensitive, athletic and energetic young horse.

Full of Spice (Spice has been adopted!)

Full of Spice is a 2001 15hh chestnut American Saddlebred mare who originally came to MHARF during a 2011 Pine County humane case. Spice was pregnant at intake and gave birth to her colt Spot in October of 2011. After he was weaned in 2012, Spice competed in the 2012 MHARF Trainer’s Challenge of the Unwanted Horse with trainer George Walker and she is broke to ride.  She was adopted a few years later but is now being returned because her adopter can sadly no longer keep her. Spice did spend 90 days of refresher training at Dart Ranch during the summer of 2017.  Her previous adopter says she is very smart and can be a bit lazy and resistant to move out. She feels Spice gets really bored with arena work and would do great on trails or obstacle work (but she does not have experience with these at this point). She is not spooky or reactive but is not suitable for a beginner because she is super smart and will take advantage.  She has great ground manners and is easy to catch.

Bojangles (Bojangles has been adopted!)

Bojangles is a pony who came in during an April 2018 humane case. He was an extreme case of neglect and in serious need of farrier care. Bojangles was taken into foster care by the Hay Chix (haychix.com) who are working on rehabbing him. He is well on is way to recovery!

Banner (Banner has been adopted!)

Banner is a 2003 15hh black and white pinto gelding who was originally born at MHARF after his pregnant mother, Kite, came in from a large 2002 Pine County humane case. Banner was adopted as a youngster but was never started under saddle. He has now been returned because his original adopter could no longer keep him. He is currently a student of our 2018 Trainer’s Challenge of the Unwanted Horse with trainer Thomas Smittle. Because Banner is spending the spring and summer in training and will compete in the Challenge on September 22nd, he will not be available for adoption until that date. If you would like more information on becoming pre-approved to adopt banner at the Challenge on 09/22/18 please see Adopting a Trainer’s Challenge Horse.

You can follow Thomas an Banner’s training journey throughout the spring and summer on Banner’s Facebook page HERE!
