Cass (Adopted)

Cass is a pinto gelding who was foaled in approximately 2011. He came to MHARF in Oct. 2024 as an owner surrender due to the sale of the farm where he was living. Cass’s herd-mate died this past summer and with that and other things, he has experienced some stress. He is very happy to now be with other horses again. We gave him some time to settle in and have all of his veterinary care updated before we began his training assessment. Cass is not started under saddle and is currently learning how to have good ground manners. He has some trust issues and in particular does not like to load. This is something he is working on on training. Cass is available for adoption to an experienced horse person who has the knowledge to continue his training.

Cisco (Adopted)

Cisco is a 2003 palomino quarter horse gelding who came to MHARF in July 2024 as an owner surrender.

Jake (Adopted)

This handsome senior gentleman is named Jake. Jake came to us from a September 2024 Cass County humane case (along with 21 chickens and a turkey. There were also dogs and cats on the property and they were taken in by another organization). Jake is approximately 25 years old and has been lone horse for several years. He was very excited to be around other horses again! Jake’s vision seems to be limited, but we don’t know yet to what degree. He is a bit nervous with all of the changes, but responds very well to soft speech and reassurance. He has now had his vaccinations and his dental work. His teeth are in excellent shape for his age.

Albie

Albie is a gelding who was turned over to MHARF in September 2024 from an estray/unclaimed by owner case. He was foaled in approximately 2019.  He is a smaller horse (possibly a Welsh pony cross), standing at 14.1hh. Albie does not have any training under saddle at this point. He is in training at his foster home and is currently working on groundwork. He has a good temperament.

Henry

Henry is one of two geldings who were found estray by law enforcement in Sept. 2024 and never claimed by their owner so have now been signed over to MHARF. We have an approximate date of birth for Henry of 2002.  He came in with a nail piercing the frog of one hoof. Luckily it went through horizontally and we don’t expect any issues going forward. He is healing up nicely thanks to the help of Anoka Equine Veterinary Services.  His hoof will need to heal completely and he will have to put on some weight before we do any sort of training assessment on him.
