Molly (Adopted)

Molly is a Haflinger mare who came to MHARF in May of 2024 when we were asked to assist her elderly owner who could no longer care for her. She stands approximately 13hh and is in her early to mid-teens. Molly was pretty overweight when she came in and she is currently on a diet. She will need a home where she will get the exercise and correct diet she needs to stay healthy (Molly will need a dry lot, any grazing should be very limited or a grazing muzzle should be used). Molly is currently at HH Stables for a training assessment and refresher.  What we know about her so far is that she can be a little buddy sour and pushy, but does get over it. She does have decent ground manners. She is well broke to ride, neck reins, has done w/t/c in arena and is good on the trail.

Geno

Geno is a 2009 14.3hh Missouri Fox Trotter Gelding who came to MHARF in September of 2023 when his owner passed away.

Lumpy

Lumpy is a 1999 pinto pony gelding who was taken in by MHARF in March of 2024. He has a  lump on his side for which we are awaiting biopsy results. He is also missing his lower front teeth and his top teeth were very overgrown. He has now had dental care and that issue is resolved.

Snickerdoodle (Adopted)

Snickerdoodle is a 10.1hh 2009 pony mare who was picked up at an auction by our friends at Save the Brays Donkey Rescue in March of 2024. After her quarantine period she came to MHARF where she had a good grooming session before going to have her intake veterinary work done at Anoka Equine Veterinary Services. Snickerdoodle had very bad dental issues, including large hooks which caused her mouth to be ulcerated. She also needed two teeth extracted that were so dead the mucosa had grown up into the socket under the teeth and healed. It’s likely this little mare was mishandled in the past because she is wary of being touched, but once she knows you are not going to hurt her, she gives a big sigh of relief and melts. She loves being gently brushed (still shedding out) and she was very good for her recent farrier care. Fly spray is obviously a new concept for her, but she is learning to put up with it. She also has an atrophied left hindquarter from an old injury which will keep her from being rideable.

Renae (Adopted)

Renae is a young bay mare (foaled in approximately 2022) who came to MHARF in a February 2024 Mille Lacs County humane case. She’d  had very little handling in the past and needed some time to become accustomed to being approached and handled before she could have her intake veterinary work done. Thanks to our friends at HH Stables, she has come a long way and is now much more comfortable being caught, handled, groomed etc. She has also gained weight and is looking great. She is up to date on her vet work and is available for adoption to someone with the experience to continue her training.
