Renae (Adopted)

Renae is a young bay mare (foaled in approximately 2022) who came to MHARF in a February 2024 Mille Lacs County humane case. She’d  had very little handling in the past and needed some time to become accustomed to being approached and handled before she could have her intake veterinary work done. Thanks to our friends at HH Stables, she has come a long way and is now much more comfortable being caught, handled, groomed etc. She has also gained weight and is looking great. She is up to date on her vet work and is available for adoption to someone with the experience to continue her training.

Skye (Adopted)

This gelding came to MHARF from a February 2024 Mille Lacs County humane case. He was foaled in approximately 2005. He is missing the tip of his tongue and has a severely ulcerated mouth due to very sharp points on his teeth. He has been gaining weight steadily now that he has had proper dental care and eating no longer causes him pain.

Downtown (Adopted)

Downtown is a quarter horse gelding (foaled in 2010) who cam to MHARF in February 2024 because his owner could not give him the care he needed.

Brighty (Adopted)

Brighty (affectionately called “Bitey” for when he first came in, but now a much happier “Brighty”) came to MHARF from a December 2023 Isanti County law enforcement case. He was foaled in approximately 2018 and was a stallion at intake (he has now been gelded). He came in with what was diagnosed as a severe case of gastric ulcers for which he was treated. Brighty is feeling much better these days and has now gone to HH Stables for a training assessment. He is broke to ride but needs an experienced rider at this time who can continue his training.

Kestrel

Kestrel is a grade Arabian gelding who came to MHARF in a late November 2023 Kanabec County humane case. He was foaled in approximately 2018. He was quite thin at intake and was placed in our rehab program to gain some much needed weight. He’s a nice horse who is curious and friendly, but he has not had a lot of handling in the past.  In April 2024 Kestrel went to a trainer for a training assessment, and, as suspected, he shows no indication of past training under saddle. He definitely has potential because he likes people and likes to do things, but many experiences are very new to him at this time. He is available for adoption to an experienced person who is qualified to continue with his training.
