Raj (Adopted)

Raj is a senior Arabian gelding who came to MHARF in an August 2024 humane case. He has had all of his intake veterinary care and has gained weight. Raj is broke to ride and has a lot of energy. He is suitable for a more confident advanced rider and up.

August

August is a thoroughbred gelding (foaled in 2020, currently standing 15.2hh) who came to MHARF in an August 2024 humane case. (He was a stud at intake time and was gelded in November, 2024.) When he first came in, August spent time in-patient at Anoka Equine Veterinary Services receiving treatment and intake care. After he was released, he came to the MHARF farm for rehab and to continue his re-feeding program. August gained weight and recovered nicely over the winter. In February 2025, August went into training. As of May, he has been started under saddle. He is doing well but is still green and would be best suited for a confident intermediate rider and up. August is best suited to be a trail horse and his trainer, Hadley Day, thinks he would excel at it. See video on Facebook

Sunny (Adopted)

(Sunny is an appaloosa gelding (foaled in 2012) who came to MHARF in mid-July 2024 because his owner could no longer keep him. We have placed Sunny back in the “rehab” category at this time. He does not have any health or soundness issues, but he is not yet ready to be adopted. Sunny is friendly and likes people and attention when in his stall or in the paddock, but he does continue to get very nervous and reactive as soon as he is put to work. We have opted to take his training very slowly and to go back to the basics so we can help him overcome his fear issues so he can have the best possible future with the right adopter.

Shyanne (Adopted)

Shyanne is a mini mare who was foaled in 2016 and stands 33″ tall. She came to MHARF in July 2024 as an owner surrender (due to owner’s own health and financial issues). As you can see, Shyanne is pretty chunky. It’s very common to see overweight minis and ponies in this area due to the lushness of the pastures (especially in a wet year). Being overweight is detrimental to their health as it can lead to metabolic issues, laminitis, and other problems. Shyanne is now in a wonderful foster home where her diet and exercise program is already showing positive change. She is also loving the attention she is getting. They tell us she is getting used to all kinds of new things, including fly spray, and that she is extremely smart!

Sara (Adopted)

Sara is a grade quarter horse mare who is is in her early teens and stands 15.3hh. She came to MHARF in June 2024 when the kind person who had rescued her in 2023 asked us to assist in finding her a permanent home. When Sara was rescued, the vet assigned her a body score of 2.  Sara had been seriously neglected by her previous owner but was lucky enough to have someone step in to take over her care. She is now well on her way to recovery. She is passive in a herd and is easily pushed away from food by more aggressive horses, so anyone who wants to adopt Sara will need to keep this in mind and make sure she has access to the nutrition she needs without having to compete for it.
