“Thank you for the gift of Journey”

Thank you to Lisa for the update on Journey, the gelding she adopted this past spring. Journey came to MHARF in August of 2022 very thin and badly in need of dental care to treat a painful, ulcerated mouth. Lisa says Journey loves the farrier: “I always put his halter on, though I don’t know why, and he is the perfect gentleman for every trim. Thank you for the gift of Journey.”
Thank YOU, Lisa, for giving this gentle gelding the retirement he deserves!

“He literally has been perfect for everything…”

“He has two little girls who love him; he is such a kind pony! He literally has been perfect for everything we’ve asked of him so far.”
Thank you to Logan for this update on her adopted MHARF pony, Noodles (formerly known as Bartol). We took Noodles into our program in 2022 because he had lost his boarding situation and his owner needed emergency placement for him (thank you to the Fedewa family and to Sandie for providing foster care, training, and help with adoptive placement!). It looks like Noodles (and his buddy, Penne,) have a wonderful life with Logan and her family!

“This horse is my soulmate…”

We received these beautiful photos of Ketch from Arabella (who adopted him in 2021) along with this note and permission to share🥰:
“Senior Pics with my Boy! He is my pride and joy and by far the highlight of my high school career. I can’t thank y’all enough for everything you’ve done to get him here! Though it sounds funny, this horse is my soulmate and he will forever be a piece of childhood I will carry with me long after high school!” (Photos by Heikkela Studios)

“I couldn’t be more proud of this little horse!”

We are so proud to have Aimee and Skip To My Lulu representing MHARF and rescued horses everywhere! Congratulations to them both!
“Last month, we went to the Begin Again Horse Rescue Charity Challenge hosted by Begin Again Horse Rescue. Lulu swept the In Hand Obstacle classes, winning both the Youth and Adult divisions! To top it off, she scored 119 out of a possible 120 points in our Adult In Hand class against 22 tough competitors, winning the High Point Rescue Horse award. We loved representing the Minnesota Hooved Animal Rescue Foundation all the way out in New York, and even ran into an old friend who knew Lulu from volunteering with MHARF years ago.
This is our second year attending this show, and she’s won the Adult In Hand class both years! I couldn’t be more proud of this little horse.”

Rest in Peace, Jewell

Last weekend we received a note from Connie to let us know that her 30-year-old adopted mare, Jewell, had been put down peacefully at home. This beautiful mare first came to us in 2020 when we were called in by law enforcement to pick up an estray horse. Jewell’s owner was found but did not want to take her back, so she was signed over to MHARF. Connie initially only planned on fostering Jewell, but then decided that the old mare deserved to have a place where she was actually wanted in her final years, so the foster home became a permanent home. Thank you to Connie for giving Jewell comfort and security in her old age and thank you to Dr. Jenny for helping her leave this world in a humane and peaceful way.
